These are the most effective ways to collect data in a Cookieless world

To begin with, let’s first clarify what ‘Cookies’ are and why they’re requested for acceptance on every website I visit.

Cookies are small text files that websites store in people’s browsers and are used for various purposes, such as remembering customer preferences, tracking their behavior, and delivering targeted advertising.

Here’s how they work: when a user visits a website, the website sends a cookie to the user’s browser. The browser stores the cookie on its hard drive, so the next time the user visits the website, the browser sends the cookie back to the site. In simpler terms, the website now knows your preferences thanks to the stored information.

We’re sharing this with you to enrich your knowledge because, at least, Google announced that Cookies will bid farewell to Chrome starting in 2024.

So how will companies get to know their potential customers for targeted selling?

Google is now betting on FLoC (‘Federated Learning of Cohorts’), a token-based system that identifies user preferences in interest groups and, they claim, maintains privacy. But since we don’t know how it will turn out, we’re providing other ideas on how to collect valuable information that doesn’t involve either Cookies or Google’s new alternative:

Chats: an interactive way to gather data. You can obtain first-hand information, contact details, demographic data, and even personality traits that can help you sell better. Learn how we do it with KB: Smart Chat and Biky.

Forms: another way to do it, though they must be short to be effective, so they don’t guarantee as much information. Besides, they are not interactive and have been losing popularity, but you can still leverage them properly. With no more than 3 pieces of data, it can yield good results.

Paid campaigns on social media or Google Ads: although this includes forms or redirection to your digital channels like chats, we mention it because it remains a good source for lead generation.

Certainly, you can use whichever method you prefer, but we must tell you, based on the knowledge we’ve gained over our years of experience and in building Keybe, that chats are the best way to do it. This is a channel you can connect to your CDP, which, in our platform’s case, you can fill without leaving your conversations.

Also, remember that with emerging technologies like AI, you can analyze this data and create new strategies based on the behavior of your customers and potential customers.
